    December 10, 2009 // No Comments »

Friends of Restore Austin, the following is a Christmas message from my friend, Chris Marlow.  He is the founder of HELP End Local Poverty.  This is a humanitarian organization that seeks to be part of the remedy to the orphan crisis, specifically in Zimbabwe.  I personally had the opportunity to visit Zimbabwe a couple years ago, and view the humanitarian damage that has been done by the government and economy.  If you are looking for a worthy cause to support, I can personally recommend, HELP. A Success of a Day!

    November 30, 2009 // No Comments »

Serve Austin Sunday was a hit!  Today (11/29) Austin New Church, Soli Deo Gloria, Mustard Seed, and Soul Movement joined together to collectively:

    • feed over 300 of Austin’s homeless population – IN THE RAIN!
    • sort, box, and stock about 500 pounds of donated food for Caritas Austin.
    • begin a renovation project on the back of the SDGA building so that Restore Austin can better serve the citizens of East Austin
    • treat the elderly of the Maggie Johnson Nursing Home with some much needed love, care, and attention
    • partner with Keep Austin Beautiful to restore a downtown-EastSide neighborhood to clean up an illegal dump-site.

Today was a hit, and it couldn’t have happened without you, but remember, January 31st is just around the corner!

    Weather Alert: Cold and Homeless

    November 29, 2009 // No Comments »

    Austinites,

It seems like our first real cold blast is coming our way.  According to KXAN, Monday and Tuesday (30th & 1st) our highs will be 49 and 48.  Along with those temperatures it is supposed to be raining.  I realize this is last minute, but I just learned of the weather conditions.

Tomorrow, November 29th from 4-6pm on 7th and Neches, Restore Austin and Austin New Church will be feeding over 300 of Austin’s homeless population.  Due to the weather, we are asking all who can, to bring out spare coats, scarfs, gloves, hats, or anything warm you can think of.  If you are not going to be at the GrillOut, then contact me, and I can connect you with someone who is, so we can equip our brothers and sisters with clothing to handle the cold and the coming winter months.

Sorry for the late notice, but thank you in advance for your response!

    Matthew
