• Orphaned & Abandoned

    Restore Austin believes the best way to work for a lasting change for the  orphan and abandoned in our city and around the world is to partner with local and global non-profit organizations who have gone before us, have the experience, and are professionally trained in working with the poor and oppressed for a life of hope, love, renewal and a forever family.  There are three different levels of involvement in helping the orphan and abandoned:

    1. Exposure: Expose yourself to the orphan crisis by educating yourself through recommended resources, local conferences, foster care camps, and staying informed about opportunities made available to you to help advocate for the fatherless.  Please listen to the following message by John Piper on adoption: Predestined for Adoption
    2. Experience: Restore Austin is creating opportunities through our partners to be part of the remedy through monthly projects, monthly sponsorship of orphans, respite care, and much needed weekly mentoring.
    3. Engage: Restore Austin has several partners that can help you fulfill your dream of becoming an adoptive or foster parent.  We truly believer there is no better example that we can set of our own adoption into the family of God, than by adopting those who have been abandoned and left without love.

    We believe the the question is not whether or not you should be involved in the orphan crisis, the answer to that is – Yes, we are all called to be involved.  The question is, “How are you to be involved?”

    Often times the orphan and abandoned crisis seems almost too big to be involved in.  Often times the problem seems way to big to impact. That’s simply not true, and while it is large and impacts children and families on a global level, we want help you get involved here and now:

    • Restore Austin partners with two international orphan agencies that allow you to sponsor children monthly in India and Africa.
    • Restore Austin plan on offering bi-annual short term mission trips to two of our orphanages in Meir and Sandoval Mexico, and with our partnership with the Miracle Foundation it is our hope to begin to offer an annual trip to their Indian orphanages.
    • Restore Austin has formed a partnership with foster agency, Caring Family Network.  Through them we have several opportunities to help raise awareness and help remedy the local foster and orphan issue, this includes hosting foster to adopt classes.

    Restore The Orphan: Restore Austin is forming an advocacy/support team called, Restore the Orphan for those in our network who are planning on engaging the orphan crisis through actual adoption (foreign or domestic) and/or foster-care.

    Hypothetically, this or these team(s) would meets once a month for the following reason:

    • SUPPORT – you all are going to go through ups and downs, and that is okay, but there is nothing better than having a community of people that you can lean on or be there for them to lean on who know exactly what you are going through!
    • CONTRIBUTION: Learning from each other.
    • EDUCATION: sessions, which would allow speakers to come in and talk to the group in relevance with what is going on in your lives.
    • AWARENESS: who better to raise awareness about this issue than the people actually engaging it. Who better to answer the questions, “how do we attack this crisis through the lens of the Gospel?”

    The focal point of Restore the Orphan will be the following four points.  For the sake of personal and emotional support, we do not want these teams to be too big, so we may have to form teams around each point, or we may take two points and form one team, but we will allow this to evolve however it may.

    1. Adoption: Domestic and International
    2. Foster Care: General Foster Care, Foster Adoption, Kids Again Out of Foster Care, and Family Reunification
    3. Sanctity of Life: General Sanctity of Life and Sanctity of Life to Adoption
    4. International Orphan Care: General International Orphan Care, Individual Orphan sponsorship, and Orphanage sponsorship
