• Poor & Oppressed

Rather than reinvent the wheel, we believe the best way to work towards lasting change among the poor and oppressed in our city is to partner with local non-profits who have gone before us, have the experience, and are professionally trained in working with the poor and oppressed for a life of hope, change, and a better tomorrow.
Restore Austin offers training that is put on by the United Way and Hands on Central Texas.  It is our hope to better equip those who are not poor or oppressed with the knowledge and skill to better serve those in need.    We believe, those of us who are not ‘without’ have a responsibility toward humanity.  Therefore it is our hope to provide partnerships, avenues, and environments to better help you more fully engage in a lifestyle of service for the poor and oppressed of Austin.  All you have to do is contact us and we can help you connect with one of our restore communities who are actively engaged in weekly or monthly service.

Two to three times a year Restore Austin partners with Communities in Schools to renovate a classroom at one of the CIS Schools.  Our purpose in doing this is to create a fun and peaceful learning environment for students who are in need of extra educational care due to broken homes, poverty, and opposing circumstances.   If you have never experienced the   opportunity to makeover a CIS classroom, then we highly recommend you sign up for our next MakeOver.

Along with our many partnerships and our CIS Extreme MakeOvers we provide hundreds of back packs each August for under-priviledged children who other wise could not afford the bare essentials to start their first day of school.    Communities in Schools is the number drop-out prevention program in the united states.  So, through the back pack drive we seek to equip those who would normally fall into school drop-out statistics with the resources needed to stay in school each year.

Community Enrichment: Restore Austin is partnering with Communities In Schools, Capital Area Food Bank, Hands On Central Texas, and the Austin Housing Authority, to begin a community enrichment program around the Santa Rita area, east of Downtown Austin. Our hope is to equip and motivate several restore communities and individuals to:

    • Commit one hour a week for one year to mentor young boys and girls at Zavala Elementary or Martin Middle School
    • Commit to the after schools Smart Kids Program at the Santa Rita Projects
    • Commit to training those who desire self-sufficiency life skills, interview skills, and parenting skills
    • Plan special events for the parents and the children of that area of town so that relationships can be enriched and voices can be heard.
    • Spend time renovating the East Austin Art House building to create a future food pantry with non-perishable foods and a bi-monthly fresh fruits and veggie program.

Below is small picture of how you can be involved with community enrichment program.
